Every movement rewards me with new reflections, different stories
"Faire du lèche-vitrines,"
or window licking, is a cool and very illustrating french expression. It implies so much more than the English expression "window shopping," The French expression is funnier, and more honest. It expresses that surge of desire we all get when we see something we want in a shop window and it does not necessarily mean we will go inside to buy. Look. Stare. Dream. Why not!
I hunt for reflections in chic shop windows.
I move my head and body side to side, up-and-down and sometimes even sit or kneel on the sidewalk. Every movement rewards me with new reflections, different stories . Its like a game I play and while at it I see what is not visible if one just looks directly. Shop windows in Paris to me are as artful as some works in the Louvre Museum. Reflections allow me, or perhaps force me, to see with different eyes."
